The Surprise

This story is about clients of mine who finally have their dream home, and only two years after they first saw it. That is what this incredible saga is about. Two years ago, Karundi found me via a sign call. She called on a very cute house and although she didn’t love that first one, we teamed up to find her a house. This house was going to be home to her and her boyfriend Seth, who was moving to Columbus from California. We would go out and look at houses and then Karundi would report to Seth about what we had seen. There were a few possibilities, but nothing that “spoke “to her.

That is, until one day we walked into the coolest, hippest house we had seen. As it is most of the time, that was “the one” and she called Seth before we left the house and like a good man, he told her if she loved it that much to make an offer and he knew he would be great with her decision.

We wrote an offer that night for above asking price and low and behold, another couple loved it as much as my buyers. They offered so much over asking that my buyers just could not go that high. The depression was terrible and of course, Karundi compared every place we looked at to “the one”. Eventually, Seth moved here, they purchased a condo downtown and other happy things took over. There was a wonderful engagement followed by a beautiful wedding and we would talk once every few months. I saw them over the holidays at my open house and just lately, we had been discussing investment properties.

Then something incredible happened. I was looking at new listings and much to my surprise, there was “the one”. I can tell you I was soooo excited. Now Seth had never seen this house, so I called him and asked him if he would like to give his wife a really great surprise. It certainly got him interested and we made an appointment to see if he would like the house as much as Karundi had. When we walked in the door, he was almost speechless( and that is hard for Seth).

What happened next was pretty funny. He called Karundi and told her that we had found a house she might like. She asked where and he told her it was the house she had loved. She then got really mad and told both of us we were mean to play such a cruel joke. She would not believe us. It took about 10 minutes to convince her and she finally came over. When she walked in, she started crying and said she never thought it would be possible. Needless to say, they wrote an offer that night and just last week moved into their dream house. It is definitely “the one” and I am thrilled to have been a part of their dream.

Charlene
